After a lackluster Martini House visit in mid 2008, we returned recently. The first time around, we had a themed tasting menu (tomato for her and mushroom for me), both of which seemed surprisingly unsatisfying. Since there are so many restaurants to try in Napa Valley, it can be a while before we go back if we didn’t have a good experience the first time around. But we recently went back and had one of the best start-to-finish tasting menus since we’ve been here. We had just the winter tasting menu this time (we passed on the mushroom themed tasting menu. Heh.) We’ll definitely be going back again in a lot less than 2 years to see what the tiebreaker meal will be like. Anywhere here are some pics and our Martini House review.

For a more detailed look, check out Scott Walnofer’s post of his experience at Martini House while celebrating his anniversary. Always interesting to see the reviews by those who know a lot more about food than say 2 gluttons who were especially amazed at the seared, scalloped potatoes (hiding underneath the carrots above)
